Shortly after completing her bachelors, she moved to Dallas, Texas where she started her career as a registered nurse at Presbyterian Hospital in the emergency room. While at Presby, Andrea was on numerous committees and served as a preceptor to new graduates and nursing students. She spent four years there before deciding to travel for the next year as an emergency room travel nurse. She first went to North Carolina to work at a Level I trauma center, Carolinas Medical Center. She had the opportunity to gain experience in adult and pediatric trauma and work beside nationally recognized emergency medicine physicians. After that she came back as a travel nurse to work again in Dallas, Texas at UT Southwestern, St. Paul Hospital, and Parkland Hospital in the emergency room. While working, Andrea attended graduate school at Texas Woman’s University where she earned her Master of Science degree in Nursing. She graduated in May 2008 and soon after obtained certification as a family nurse practitioner.
Her first job was in Garland, Texas with a family practice physician where she worked with the indigent population. She treated all ages with the youngest being only a couple of days old. While there she served as a sub-investigator for research studies looking at osteoporosis, diabetes, and influenza. Her next stop as a mid-level provider was with the largest internal medicine group in Plano, Texas. She worked beside six other providers treating acute and chronic illnesses.
Andrea has been with the Minimally Invasive team since April 2011 and works with Dr. Michael Rimlawi in helping to cure back pain. She has over three years of experience in treating back pain and over 10 years in treating acute and chronic illnesses. She assists Dr. Rimlawi in the operating room as well as in the clinic, seeing patients for their preoperative and postoperative exams. Her mission is to educate and empower patients in hopes of increasing their overall quality of life. She loves what she does and, most importantly, enjoys seeing the hope in patients’ eyes during their swift recovery.
Andrea is a certified family nurse practitioner and a certified registered nurse first assistant. She is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, North Texas Nurse Practitioners, and the National Institute of First Assisting.
